There are a number of things you should consider before buying hd camcorders. The high definition camcorder market is huge with many different makes and models to choose from and the prices can vary greatly too so you should ensure that you read all of the product reviews and buying guides before you purchase to make sure that you get the right high definition camcorder for your life style.
Some ideas you may want to consider and things to look out for when researching hd camcorders.
HD camcorders come in many shapes and sizes. Think about where it will be used! Will it be for family and around the home or will it be used by the more adventurer type. The size, weight and the shape are the first critical research factors you should consider before you buy.
Some hd camcorders have power management systems built in that automatically power off the device when not in use which saves on the battery life. Ideally you should then be able to view the battery life on the screen at the touch of a button. Can be a handy feature to have.
I personally like it to have a good index screen that is clear and shows thumbnail images of both still and video clips so it makes it easy to make your selection.
The ability to store your data on a memory stick has become a common feature on many high definition camcorders. This is a great feature as it then means you can upload the info onto any computer, dvd player or computer games console. The best thing about memory sticks is their ability to store massive amounts of recordings on such small size. No bigger than a cigarette lighter.
Look out for hd camcorders that have a function that allows you to select the type of scene you want to use. Makes your recording more interesting. Some scenes that you may see are Twilight – Gives the appearance of the light right before it gets dark. Beach and snow – tones down the brightness so the images are not spoiled by glare. There are many more.
The imager on any digital camcorders ideally should have advanced HAD CCD technology with a high number of pixels (340+) to give you the stunning detail and clarity when viewing.
You want to make sure that the digital zoom is high speed to bring the action right to you no matter how far away the object is. If you can another good feature that has been adopted by some makers of hd camcorders is Digital Zoom Interpolation (DZI) which basically means that fast digital zooming is clearer in extreme situations with less distortions than on previous formats.
The DVD video recording used on the high definition camcorder should be able to record in a variety of different DVD formats easily. Mpeg etc..
